Designing a scalable mobile experience for a Top 20 App Store app
Background
Vans had built a strong and recognizable brand across physical retail, but its mobile experience still had room to better reflect that identity. The project focused on creating an app that felt consistent with the brand while establishing the foundations of a scalable Design System.
Challenge
Every screen needed to balance brand expression with usability. The interface had to feel familiar to Vans customers while remaining fast, intuitive, and consistent across the entire product. In parallel, the Design System had to support both the initial launch and future product growth.
Process
The project combined interface design and Design System development from day one. Design principles were translated into reusable components, helping maintain consistency, simplify collaboration with engineering, and accelerate future iterations as the product evolved.
