Design System Audit
Increasing Design System Maturity Through Automated Auditing
Background
For years, Coruja Design System relied on Color Styles. The introduction of a multi-brand application with light and dark themes exposed scalability limitations and made token parity one of the largest sources of Design System debt. As the ecosystem grew, tracking adoption and migration progress became increasingly difficult.
Challenge
The transition from Styles to Variables introduced a new challenge: tracking adoption across dozens of design files. Without clear visibility into migration progress, identifying technical debt and prioritizing improvements became increasingly difficult, forcing governance decisions to rely on manual reviews and anecdotal evidence.
Process
This project followed a systems-oriented process rather than a traditional UX workflow. Instead of focusing on user flows, wireframes, and usability testing, the work centered on defining measurable indicators, automating audits, and validating Design System adoption at scale.
